Typically where no electricity is available, Island systems arIsland Systeme advised, which allow for a normal life style without a grid connection. These systems are also called “off-grid”, although top end inverters can utilize grid/generator power for back-up. Under adverse weather conditions and at night, the system supplies power from storage batteries. High quality components have been carefully chosen to ensure that the our Island System achieves a long service life despite daily usage of its batteries. High quality inverters ensure that the power generated by the Island system is more stable than that of generators, UPS’s and even the national gird, allowing for longer service lives of your appliances.

Our Island systems configuration allows for single or three-phase power supply. Expanding an Island system can be done in modular fashion and does not require you to discard equipment originally installed. Additional inverters are simply added and configured in order to accommodate the operation of multiple inverters on a single or three phase power line. We also offer Lithium-Iron batteries on some of our systems. These batteries come with a 10yr warranty and expected life is 20yrs. They are also maintenance free.

Grid-Tied Typically, grid connected PV systems are utilized purely for energy cost reduction and self-consumption of green power. Unutilised power generated by the Grid-Tie system may be fed back into the utility network.

Your PV Grid-Tied system can operate at maximum capacity, yielding the lowest possible cost of generating green power per kWh. The PV Grid-Tied systems have the shortest payback periods because they do not have costly battery storage.

As these systems do not require any batteries, the required maintenance efforts are negligible. PV Grid-Tied systems do not offer backup in case of grid failure. Some Grid-Tie systems can be expanded to multi-hybrid systems at a later stage. For commercial customers this is the best return on investment as their consumption is mainly during the day and can be as high as 80% green power. Home users usually consume around 40% during the day.

Typically, Multi Hybrid systems are used in combination with available grid power. They combine the advantages of PV Island systems and PV Grid-Tied systems, namely battery backup for essential appliances offered by Island Systems and lower installation and operations outlays offered by PV Grid-Tie systems. It also avoids the loss of unutilised green power by being grid interactive whilst at the same time supplying power to both essential and non-essential appliances. Unlike with Island systems, batteries will not be used when grid power is available, thereby maximising battery life.

Also, unlike with Grid-Tied systems the Multi Hybrid system autonomously switches to island operation in cases of grid power failure, which means that your green power will be available even during power outages. The batteries are sized to maintain all the essential appliances in case of grid power failure.
